In short- it is an honest and authentic approach to documenting the moments of your wedding day as it happens.
For me, the heart behind this approach to wedding photography, is to constantly be on the lookout for moments, details and interactions that depict the heart of your unique wedding day. It’s about documenting, and not interfering or fabricating your moments.
We are drawn to photos, to the authentic moments. They have the ability to draw us in, connect us to a moment.
They help us to remember.
Remember how the day actually unfolded, the laugher, the tears – all the things!
I am pretty sure, in 20 years, when you look back at your wedding photos, they will have increased in meaning and value, as you reflect on who you were in this season of life.
So how does it work?
It’s pretty straight forward actually – you just do you.
You take your day in as it happens- focus on your people, your friend, the moments. I basically hang out with you as you move through your day, all the while looking out for the magical moments, the small details that make out your day, the good light, and framing the photos in a way that tells your story in a artistic, but real way.
I walk through the whole day, and tell your wedding story. I am there to help you stick to your timeframe, and engage with your people, without forcing fake poses on to you and your people.
What about bridal the ‘formal’ type photos? Do you still do those?
Of course yes!!! Photos with your bride tribe, groomsmen, parents, family are absolutely there! These sessions are slightly more structured, but still fun and natural.
Do you direct us during the couple shoot?
OF COURSE!!! This is one of my favourite parts of a wedding!
I know how daunting it is to have your photo taken (and how totally awkward it can feel!) Gosh! So in short- yes, I definitely give you direction. I scout out the best places, help you to relax and spend some time together.
My focus during your couple photos is to help you and your new husband to connect. To have some quality alone time with each other on your wedding day (and I pull some tricks out of my bag to help you guys to forget I am there, and make some new memories together)
My whole aim during this session, is to contribute to the scene (and not take away from it) which means that
I would rather give you a reason to kiss, than tell you to kiss
So, in short, that is documentary style wedding photography. You are the hero of the story, your moment and memories.
Want to hop in a call/email to chat a bit about your wedding day? And to see if we are maybe a good fit for each other? Photographers spend so much time with you on your wedding day, I think it’s pretty important to ‘click’ 🙂
